Craig Carter, renowned as a top recruiter over more than a decade as a Division I assistant coach, has joined Bill Courtney’s Cornell men’s basketball coaching staff. Carter replaces Marlon Sears, who accepted the head coaching position at Montclair State in May. Carter most recently was an assistant coach at Longwood, helping the Lancers advance to the Big South tournament semifinals after upsetting top-seeded Charleston Southern. He had previous successful stops as an assistant coach at Siena (2005-06, 2010-13) and Rutgers (2006-10) and under former Big Red assistant coach Joe Burke at Skidmore College (2013-14). He has also served as director of basketball operations at both UNC Greensboro (2003-04) and Massachusetts (2004-05).
