After a storied 31-year career, Bob Burchard intends to retire following this basketball season. The longtime Columbia College men’s basketball coach and athletic director announced his decision Tuesday before a home game against Crowley’s Ridge played on a court already named in his honor. “Columbia College is a special place,” Burchard said in a news release. “I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to serve the institution and our students.” Burchard began at Columbia College in 1988. He is a member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, the NAIA Hall of Fame and the only NAIA basketball coach to serve on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Board of Directors. – Columbia Daily Tribune.
