Keirn comes from Bloomsburg (Pa.) University where she spent the past two years as a graduate assistant in the sports information office. She played an integral role in the social media efforts for athletics and was the creative designer for the Athletics Strategic Plan in 2013.

UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY

UVU Athletics and Adidas have agreed to renew their footwear, apparel, and accessory partnership through 2019, extending by five years the original five-year agreement between adidas and the Wolverines signed in 2009. Since teaming up with Adidas, UVU has experienced tremendous success, including its unprecedented leap from the NJCAA ranks directly to NCAA Division I by way of an invitation to join the Western Athletic Conference.

 
WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY

Chris Bethel and Joylynn Brown have been named assistant athletics director for facilities and assistant athletics director for internal operations, respectively. Bethel served with the WSU Nutter Center since 2000 as patron services manager. Brown played volleyball from 1989-1992, was an assistant coach for the program from 1995 to 1998, and then head coach until 2005 when she chose to step down to concentrate on other endeavors.

 
UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT

Athletics director Warde Manuel said he opposes the idea of unions for college athletes, but sees the need to provide students on athletic scholarships with additional money. The NCAA this spring adopted changes to allow unlimited meals and snacks for athletes. Manuel supports the change, and would like to see the governing body also consider giving all athletes what used to be called “laundry money” to help cover expenses that go above tuition, room, and board. -AP-

 
EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

EMU Athletics Director Heather Lyke announced Mark Van Ameyde as the new head baseball coach yesterday. Van Ameyde spent the past six seasons as associate head coach at Michigan State University. Van Ameyde has been one of the key components to MSU’s success, including helping the program to its first Big Ten Conference Championship in 32 years in 2011 and a berth in the NCAA Regionals in 2012.

 
UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE

Athletics Director Eric Ziady on Monday announced Christine Motta as its new associate athletic director for student-athlete development and senior woman administrator. A former student-athlete and assistant coach at the University of Delaware. She joined the UD Career Services for Athletes Department in 2011 as an assistant director. Most recently, Motta served as a radio analyst on UD women’s basketball broadcasts for two seasons in 2012-14.

Harris joins WOU after spending the last five years at the College of Western Idaho as the Fixed Assets and Purchasing Manager. Harris spent much of last year assisting in athletic events at Boise State University voluntarily. There he learned event management, facility preparation, and organization of event volunteers.

BU names Aaron Aaker new Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Strategic Planning, announced Monday by interim Athletic Director Drew Marrochello. Aaker previously worked for Boston College’s athletic department as its Assistant Athletics Director. In seven years there, he led the compliance program for 31 varsity sports and over 700 student-athletes. During this past year, 10 varsity teams earned perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate scores.

Commissioner Val Ackerman announced today the appointment of Stu Jackson as Sr Associate Commissioner of Men’s Basketball. Jackson will formally join the conference at its NYC headquarters on July 28. A widely-respected veteran in the basketball industry, Jackson’s career in collegiate and professional basketball spans more than three decades, including 13 years as a senior executive at the National Basketball Association, most recently as Executive VP, Basketball Operations.

WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY

Jason Vittone received the 2013-14 American Midwest Conference Athletic Director of the Year award for his first time. Vittone was named athletics director in September 2011, after spending four years being the Sports Information Director and Champions of Character Coordinator. In his first year at the helm, Vittone oversaw a WWU athletics department that produced 73 academic all-conference recipients and 19 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

 
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN

Michigan might have a new clubhouse for its golf course if the Board of Regents approves the athletic department’s request to demolish the existing building and erect a brand new 26,000-square-foot, $12 million facility. According to officials, the 64-year-old clubhouse’s infrastructure is inefficient, costly to maintain, outdated, and no longer fitting the university’s needs.” The construction would be funded through gifts and other athletic department resources, and the design is expected to begin shortly after the regents’ approval. SIMMONS COLLEGE

Alan Wickström has been named Sports Information Director, announced today by athletics director Ali Kantor. Wickström assumes the post after spending three years in the same position with Wheelock College. He is in his 23rd year in sports media relations, including 17 as a Director of Sports Information. He was the youngest SID in the nation at age 22 when he assumed the position at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham in 1995 and spent nearly four years there promoting the University’s athletic programs.

 
CLEMSON UNIVERSITY

Athletics Director Dan Radakovich announced today that Darryl Richard, a former defensive line standout at Georgia Tech and a member of the New England Patriots, has been hired as assistant director of business operations for athletics. A native of Destrehan, La., Richard worked at Entergy Corporation in New Orleans since February 2011 as a financial analyst and budget coordinator, where he monitored the target performance of Entergy’s Utility Operations Group operations and maintenance budget in excess of $600 million.

 
UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE

Head baseball coach Dan McDonnell announced this morning the hiring of former Illinois associate head coach Eric Snider as his assistant coach. Snider helped lead Illinois to NCAA Regional appearances in 2011 and 2013, as well as the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles in 2011. As associate head coach, he was instrumental in recruiting for the Fighting Illini and he was responsible for placing the Illini in summer leagues across the country.

Two members of the House of Representatives introduced a bill that would require all NCAA members, including private schools, conferences, bowl games & even the NCAA itself, to report all finances in a easily accessible manner, titled the Standardization of Collegiate Oversight of Revenues & Expenditures (SCORE). The NCAA had not made the figures available in the past on a school-by-school basis in order to get private schools to participate in this reporting. -Steve Berkowitz-

 
CLEMSON UNIVERSITY

Barbara Kennedy-Dixon, the Senior Woman Administrator since 2005, will be the new Special Assistant to the Athletics Director, and will provide assistance to the Athletics Director in areas of identified critical needs and on special projects. Along with serving as the SWA, she has been with the university in an administrative position or coach for 27 years overall. Her ties to the school and Clemson athletes date to 1978, when she was a freshman on the Clemson women’s basketball team.

FLORIDA AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL UNIVERSITY

The temporary suspension of the FAMU men’s tennis and men’s golf programs is now under review by President Elmira Mangum, Ph.D. Athletic Director Kellen Winslow recently suspended the programs due to a $7 million deficit accumulated by the Athletic Department over the past several years and a projected operating deficit for 2014-2015. Dr. Mangum has identified a need to consult with university stakeholders regarding the decision.

 
MIAMI UNIVERSITY

Miami hired Chris Smith as its first Coordinator of New Media. Smith spent the past two years working as Bowling Green’s Assistant Producer of In-Game Entertainment. In addition to his duties at BGSU, Smith spent three years as the Cleveland Browns’ Content and Production Intern. He created TV spots, fan features and game day packages for the 2011 NFL season, edited in-game features at Browns’ home games and managed stadium events.
