CSUN Director of Athletics Brandon E. Martin has announced the creation of the Student-Athlete Athletic Director. The unique position is designed to enhance the student-athlete experience by advancing student-athlete well-being, promoting engagement opportunities within the campus community, and fostering a positive image and perception of the student-athlete demographic. Sevian Frangipane, a sophomore member of the CSUN men’s golf team, was elected to the position by his peers on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and will assist Martin in many facets including bridging the gap between student-athletes and athletics administration. The position will also participate in several administrative processes and units within the CSUN Athletics Department. Sport-specific marketing, strategic communications, NCAA compliance, and fundraising will be the initial areas the Student-Athlete Athletic Director will focus on. The Student-Athlete AD will also work closely with Associated Students and select offices within the University Student Union. The Athletic Director will have a cadre of SAAC representatives to assist with meetings with senior staff members and coaches. Frangipane’s day-to-day duties this semester will include shadowing Martin at select campus and senior staff meetings as well as working closely with CSUN Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Edward Jackiewicz. –Read More
