The search has already begun at Bluefield State College for a replacement for interim athletic director Dr. Tom Hart. Dr. Marsha Krotseng, president of Bluefield State, in a statement issued on Monday, said, “The Bluefield State College athletic department and entire BSC community appreciate the energy and positive contributions Dr. Hart has made as our Interim Director of Athletics. “His primary focus has been the welfare of our student-athletes, and he has worked closely with our coaches to reinforce BSC’s continued success in the athletic arena as well as in academics. “We wish him much continued success as Commissioner of the USA South Athletic Conference.” Krotseng identified the athletic director’s job as “a critical position for any institution that has an intercollegiate athletic program … .” Colleges have been able to seek exceptions to recent state government hiring freezes in cases of “critical need.” West Virginia’s public higher education system is currently in such a freeze due to decreased revenue coming into state government. -Tom Bone, Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Read More
