The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released yesterday its first installment of On Campus, an original segment produced to highlight one of the league’s 16 member institutions for use on the GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN). The GLVCSN recently visited Louisville, Kentucky, to learn more about the leadership of Bellarmine University, one of the six charter members of the GLVC in 1978. In this edition of On Campus, the Knights’ Director of Athletics Scott Wiegandt sat down to discuss his tenure at Bellarmine, which first began as one of the league’s top baseball players, having been named the GLVC Paragon Award recipient as Baseball Player of the Year in 1989. Under the watch of Wiegandt, Bellarmine brought home the 2011 NCAA Division II national championship in men’s basketball — the first national title in school history.
