Amir Abdur-Rahim has been hired as the new assistant head men’s basketball coach under head men’s coach Billy Kennedy, reports David Sandhop. Abdur-Rahim has had a long history with Kennedy, having played at Southeastern Louisiana under Kennedy and having coached at Murray State alongside Kennedy. Abdur-Rahim comes from the College of Charleston, where he was an assistant coach for the past two seasons.
AUBURN UNIVERSITY
Harris Adler is expected to join head men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl’s staff as an on-the-court assistant, reports Brandon Marcello. Adler is a long-time assistant coach at La Salle University, having just completed his tenth season at La Salle and helping his team reach the Sweet 16 in 2013. Adler is visiting Auburn this weekend, and an announcement is to be made sometime next week.

Last week sources told College AD, Marshall had sincere interest in Mike D’Antoni, he graduated from Marshall and is originally from West Virginia; however, that opportunity may not be possible. Los Angeles Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak held a meeting with reporters earlier today where Kupchak commented on a decision regarding D’Antoni’s job status: “Mike is under contract for two more years. If anything changes, we’ll let you know.” Kupchak said that fan dislike will not be factored into the decision.

Gerred Link is the new head men’s basketball coach, reports Joe Curley. Link is currently an assistant coach at UC San Diego. Prior to that, he spent four seasons in the NCAA Division 2 California Collegiate Athletic Association learning under two veteran coaches.
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN-DEARBORN
Head men’s basketball coach John Mackson will be departing from the university. No reason has been given for his leaving. Mackson has been coaching at the university since the 2011-12 season, coming from Taylor Kennedy High School where he was the head coach for five seasons and compiled an overall 74-40 record. Head men’s basketball coach Dave Pilipovich announced today that Andy Moore is the new assistant men’s basketball coach. Moore replaces Silvey Dominguez, who resigned earlier this month to become an assistant coach at Washington State. Moore recently finished his second season as Virginia Tech’s assistant men’s coach. Prior to that, he served as Virginia Tech’s Director of Basketball Operations during the 2012-13 season after spending four years at Eastern Michigan University.

Head men’s basketball coach Brian Fish has named Kenya Crandell as his assistant men’s coach. Crandell has had experience in Oregon’s basketball operations for the last two years. Fish says that Crandell’s past experience at schools in the Big Sky Conference shows that Crandell knows the type of player that is needed to compete. Crandell holds the career assists record at Nebraska-Kearney, the university where he began coaching as a graduate assistant.

Frank Haith has agreed to be Tulsa’s head men’s basketball coach, reports Jeff Goodman. The winningest coach at Missouri through his first two seasons (53-16, .768), Haith has made an immediate impact at Mizzou, not only with his club’s efforts on the hardwood, but his commitment to the program’s academic advancement and his support of the Columbia community. Haith just finished his third season at Missouri by missing the NCAA Tournament.

The Athletics Department announced today that Jon Yeh is the new head men’s basketball coach. “After a national search resulting in over 100 applicants, we have identified the man to take over the reins of our men’s basketball program,” said Athletics Director Dr. Stacy Hall. Having coached teams in three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances and one Final Four appearance, “Yeh is a proven winner” Hall added.” Yeh has been the Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Grace College from 1999-2006 and 2009-present.
UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN – GREEN BAY
Head men’s basketball coach Brian Wardle has agreed to a five year contract with the university, announced by Athletics Director Mary Ellen Gillespie today. Wardle was hired as Green Bay’s head coach in April of 2010. In his four seasons as coach, the Phoenix has compiled a 71-56 record.
UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT OMAHA
It was announced yesterday that Nebraska-Omaha head men’s basketball coach Derrin Hansen signed a new contract to last through the 2017-2018 season. This year he will receive $125K, increasing to $170K for 2017-2018. Hansen currently is 149-121 in his nine seasons at the university, including the last three years where the university was transitioning to a Division I program.

Athletics Director Michael McBroom announced today that Tom Brown has been hired as the new head men’s basketball coach. Brown is currently the associate head coach at Winona State University. Brown has 20 years of coaching experience overall, and has been part of one of the most successful Division II men’s basketball programs in recent history as he helped lead his team to the NCAA Division II National Championship in both 2006 and 2008.
FRESNO STATE
Jaime White has been named the new women’s head basketball coach, according to the university press release today. She comes from Northern Colorado, where she has been the women’s head coach for eight seasons. White was the Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year during the 2010-11 season.
SCHREINER UNIVERSITY
Connor Kuykendall has been named the new head coach for the Schreiner men’s basketball program, the school announced yesterday morning. Kuykendall spent the last two seasons as the assistant coach under Schreiner’s previous head coach, Jimmy Smith. During his two seasons, he helped lead his team to finish 15-12 overall, as well as a first conference tournament victory with a 10-4 record in the SCAC conference.
HARPER COLLEGE
Justin Welke has been hired as the new Harper College head men’s basketball coach, sources report. Welke graduated from Northwestern with honors in 2007, then obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois-Chicago last June. He currently is a practicing dentist at Arlington Heights Dental Group and will be replacing Tony Amarino who retired last month.
KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY
The university gave head men’s basketball coach Bruce Weber a raise and an extension of one year to last through the 2017-2018 season, after the university experienced their first conference championship in 36 years. Weber’s annual salary will increase by $250,000 to $1.75 million next season, and increase by $100,000 each of the remaining years on his original five-year deal. – Associated Press

Despite entering the NJCAA DIII Women’s Basketball National Championship as the No. 7 seed, Shannon Nelson’s led her team to defeating the top three seeds in three days to win their first national title. Nelson’s squad capped off their run with a 69-60 victory over top-seeded defending national champion Rock Valley (Ill.). Northland won their final 22 games of the season to finish with a 27-1 overall record.

Cal has hired University of Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin to replace Mike Montgomery. Martin has spent the last three seasons in Knoxville and led the Vols to the NCAA tournament this past season. He was previously the head coach at Missouri State. Montgomery retired last month. – Jeff Goodman

The university has announced former associate coach Billy Wright as the new head men’s basketball coach. Wright, currently an assistant coach at Ball State, will replace former head coach Jim Molinari, who resigned to take the assistant coaching job at Nebraska. Wright spent five seasons as an assistant at Western Illinois, including the past three as associate head coach. He helped Molinari — a one-time Ball State assistant — turn the program around.

Izzi Metz will be the new head men’s basketball coach, reports Steve Bennett this morning. Metz comes from Boston College, where he was first hired as the director of basketball operations in 2011 and then elevated to assistant coach. Metz replaces Jerry Rickrode, who stepped down back in February after 22 years to become the Major Gifts Officer in the Advancement Division. A press conference will be held as scheduled at 3 p.m. this afternoon.
GONZAGA UNIVERSITY
It was announced yesterday that Lisa Fortier, Gonzaga assistant women’s basketball coach, has been elevated to the head coaching job. Fortier has coached at Gonzaga for seven seasons, including six consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament. The terms of her contract were not disclosed. Fortier inherits a team that went 29-5 and was ranked in the Top 25 most of last season.

Tyler came to Bryn Mawr after spending 3 seasons as the assistant coach at Widener University, her alma mater, where she served as the academic and recruiting coordinator and the 2012-2013 defensive coordinator; she mentored the 2012 Middle-Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, 3 first team all-conference selections, and 2 academic All-Americans.

Head men’s basketball coach Ted Woodward has been dismissed, after a 6-23 loss this season. According to a release from the University, Woodward “will be paid a 13-month buyout of approximately $113,800 related to one year’s salary.” He finished with a 117-178 overall record in 10 years as coach. A national search for his replacement will be conducted immediately.

NDSU is hiring Maren Walseth as the new head women’s basketball coach, reports Jeff Kolpack. Walseth was the assistant women’s coach at Penn State, where she was primarily responsible for coaching the post players. She also concentrated on special situations for the Lady Lions, while also playing a significant role in the team’s recruiting and opponent scouting efforts. She was also the team liaison for academic advising.

Purdue assistant women’s basketball coach Christy Smith has accepted the top assistant women’s basketball coaching position at Arkansas, confirmed by Purdue. Smith spent three seasons at Purdue, where she helped the team to a pair of Big Ten Tournament titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances.

AD Lee Reed has named Natasha Adair the new head women’s basketball coach. Adair was at the helm for two seasons at the College of Charleston. She also was an assitant coach for six seasons at Georgetown. In 14 years that she coached in the ACC and Big East, she developed and mentored 12 players that went on to play basketball at the professional level. A press conference will be held on Tuesday to officially introduce Adair.

The university has announced Friday that Rusty Rogers is the new head women’s basketball coach. Rogers succeeds Joshua Steffen, who coached the program the previous six seasons. He has 30 years of basketball coaching experience: 16 of those years at the collegiate level where he is 300-193, and 14 years of those years at the high school level where he is 338-149. Rogers has coached two NAIA Division II national championship teams at Western Oregon University.

Associate men’s basketball coach Glynn Cyprien has been dismissed from the program, reports Brent Zwerneman. Head coach Billy Kennedy said this afternoon that he evaluates his program every year and has decided to make some staff changes. He also mentions “nobody has forced me to do anything, but I’ve done what I thought would give this program the best chance at success.” Cyprien has spent the past three seasons as Kennedy’s top assistant.

Jeff Goodman reports that Chris Mack is staying as the head men’s basketball coach. Mack has led his team to the NCAA for 4 of the 5 seasons he has been coach. It was thought earlier this week that Mack had emerged as a top target in replacing Cal coach Mike Montgomery who retired. That search, however, continues on.

Head Men’s Basketball coach Terry Smith resigned yesterday after three seasons. Smith is leaving to “pursue other career opportunities”. He has spent the last 27 years coaching basketball in the State of Michigan at every level, including being the assistant women’s basketball coach right at Michigan State right before heading to Finlandia. Athletics Director Chris Salani said that the search for a new coach will begin immediately.
IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY
Sources report that head men’s basketball Fred Hoiberg is receiving a $600,000 a year raise, bumping his average salary to $2.6 million in an effort to keep him in Ames for life. The Cyclones announced a revised contract for Hoiberg today. Hoiberg just finished his fourth and most successful season at Iowa State. He led the Cyclones to 28 wins, the Big 12 tournament title and the program’s first Sweet 16 appearance in 14 years.

Multiple sources say that head men’s basketball coach Jim Molinari is resigning, as of last night. Molinari is rumored to be under serious consideration for the assistant coaching job at Nebraska. Associate head coach Wade Hokenson will serve as acting head coach at Western Illinois. Molinari was at Western Illinois for six seasons, finishing with a 79-104 record and leading his team to a record of 10-20 this past season.

Special assistant to the head coach Jim Shaw is promoted to assistant head coach for the Saint Mary’s College men’s basketball team, Randy Bennett announced yesterday. Shaw replaces Adam Caporn, who is returning to Australia to become an associate head coach for Basketball Australia’s National Centre of Excellence men’s program. Shaw, who has over 30 years of coaching experience, joined the Gaels last summer.

Assistant men’s coach Josh Postorino won’t be returning next season, due to mutual parting from head coach Brian Gregory, as reported by senior associate AD Ryan Bamford today. Postorino joined the staff in April of 2011; he spent 9 of his 12 years in college basketball as an assistant coach, and 7 years working in directed programs. According to Bamford, a replacement for Postorino should be hired within the next couple of weeks. The decision was most likely difficult, but a necessary decision; overall, the decision was coach Gregory’s.
BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
Today the university officially named 8-year head coach Linda Cimino as its new head women’s basketball coach. Cimino will be introduced at a press conference tomorrow at 2pm in the Events Center TAU Bearcat Room. She is a dynamic coach with strong Northeast recruiting ties, coming directly from Caldwell College (N.J.), where she built a winning program and departs as the school’s all-time leader with 128 victories.
PROVIDENCE COLLEGE
It was announced yesterday that Shocker women’s assistant basketball coach Dana Eikenberg has accepted an assisting coach position at Providence College in Rhode Island. During her two seasons as assistant coach at Wichita State, Eikenberg has helped coach the Lady Shockers to consecutive Missouri Valley Conference regular and post season titles and earning back-to-back bids to the NCAA tournament.

The university has officially announced that Carly VanDyke is the new head women’s basketball coach. Van Dyke comes from three seasons as an assistant at NCAA Division II Central Washington. Prior to that, she was an assistant at Carroll for eight seasons, where she also played for four years.

Xavier coach Chris Mack has emerged as a top target in California’s ongoing search to replace Mike Montgomery, multiple sources told CBSSports today. There is at least one report suggesting Mack has been offered the job. That’s untrue, a source told CBSSports.com. But informal and third-party conversations have happened, multiple sources told CBSSports.com. And there appears to be serious interest on both sides. – Gary Parrish

Sources say that Tony Sheals, St. Augustine’s University head men’s basketball coach, will be the new head men’s basketball coach. Sheals has coached on the high school, collegiate and professional levels for more than 20 years, including Florida State, Bethune-Cookman, Towson and Delaware State. Prior to coming to St. Augustine’s, Sheals spent the last three seasons at Florida A&M University, where he was the Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY
Sources say that Jay Ladner, former St. Stanislaus High School basketball coach, will be hired as the new head men’s basketball coach. He will be formally introduced this afternoon on campus. Ladner just directed Jones County Junior College to the men’s junior college national championship – the first time in history a Mississippi junior college won the men’s national championship.
MARSHALL UNIVERSITY
Some interesting developments are happening around the Marshall head basketball coaching search. Sources very close to the situation tell College AD that Marshall may be waiting to see what happens with LA Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni. The Lakers are currently 25-53, and many speculate that D’Antoni is close to being let go in Los Angeles. D’Antoni is originally from Mullens, WV and a graduate from Marshall.

The university announced Monday that Jimmy Smith, previously the head coach at Schreiner University, has been named the ninth head coach of the TLU men’s basketball program.
