ACC commissioner John Swofford is counting down the days until the arrival of the ACC Network. Working hand-in-hand with partner ESPN, the league will make what once seemed a dream into a reality with the debut of its digital cable and satellite channel dedicated to all things Atlantic Coast Conference in August. “There’s a sense of excitement without question,” Swofford said. After months of promotion, the channel goes live on Aug. 22 with a schedule that includes 14 live football games during the first three weeks of the season, starting with the season opener for the defending national champion Clemson. The Tigers will host Georgia Tech on Thursday, Aug. 29. ESPN executive vice president for programming Burke Magnus said the timing couldn’t be better for the new channel. -Matt Murschel, Orlando Sentinel. Read More.
