Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann received a one-time payment of $30,000 for meeting parts of the four performance thresholds for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014, according to a payroll documents obtained by NJ Advance Media. Hermann met all four of the academic bonus thresholds, which included $2,500 apiece. She also met both of the thresholds for integrity of programs, which included $5,000 apiece for no major or intentional secondary NCAA violations during the 2013-14. Hermann earned one of the competitive-success thresholds, banking $10,000 thanks to the football team’s participation in the 2013 New Era Pinstripe Bowl. All together, Hermann earned $490,275.88, which included a regular salary of $448,275.88, the $30,000 bonus and a $12,000 vehicle stipend


Sources told College AD yesterday evening that UW-La Crosse will mostly like wait until after next week to officially announce their new athletic director. We are told the chancellor is leaving on vacation today, as the university goes on spring break next week. For what it’s worth, College AD has heard from two separate sources that Interim AD Kim Blum is a heavy favorite to land the position. Former UW-La Crosse men’s basketball coach Charlie Gross, and Dr. Rick Gobe are the other two finalists for the position. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.

Loras College Vice President of Student Development Dr. Arthur Sunleaf announced Wednesday that Interim Director of Athletics Denise (Bodensteiner) Udelhofen (’90, MA ’92) has been named the next director of athletics at Loras College. Udelhofen has spent more than 24 years as a member of the Loras College Athletics Department.


University of North Dakota Director of Athletics Brian Faison, who represents the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) on the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee, has been appointed chair of the committee. Faison, who has served on the committee since Sept 1, 2013, takes over as committee chair for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Athletics Director Jim Knowlton, who had to resign his place after being named athletics director at the Air Force Academy.


Iowa State announced that athletic director Jamie Pollard had successful open heart bypass surgery on Tuesday. Pollard was transferred from a Waterloo hospital to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, where he had the surgery. He is in intensive care today and is expected to remain hospitalized for several days. Iowa State has appointed associate athletic director David Harris fill Pollard’s role while he recuperates.

Athletic Director, Jaime Pollard will be transferred to a Des Moines hospital and will undergo open-heart surgery, following the heart attack he suffered yesterday.


Steven Rackley, a 28-year veteran of athletic department leadership, including 16 years as the head of the highly successful Division II program at the University of Findlay, has been named athletic director at Alma College following a national search. Rackley replaces John Leister, who resigned as athletic director in November.


Tim Kenney has been named Director of Athletics at St. Bonaventure University, President Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F., announced today. Kenney, 44, has been the executive associate athletic director at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., since 2010. – Atlantic 10.  Read More.

Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard was taken by ambulance Monday afternoon to Allen Hospital in Waterloo after suffering a heart attack while watching his daughters compete in the A.D. Dickinson Relays at the UNI-Dome. Iowa State President Steven Leath has appointed Senior Associate Athletics Director David Harris the acting AD while Pollard recuperates. – Read More.

Interim AD Kim Blum, the final candidate for the current UW-La Crosse Athletic Director opening participated Monday in an open forum event. Blum’s goal is to keep a parallel of strong academic standards with successful teams at the university. Former UW-La Crosse men’s basketball coach Charlie Gross, and Dr. Rick Gobe are the other two finalists for the position. We are told a final candidate will be selected in the next few days.

Penn coach Jerome Allen will resign following the end of yet another losing season with the Quakers. Allen’s resignation will be effective after Penn’s season finale Tuesday against Princeton. The Quakers are 9-18 overall and 4-9 in the Ivy League. Penn athletics director Grace Calhoun is set to make her first major hire and one of the candidates could include former Penn assistant and Cornell and Boston College head coach Steve Donahue. – NBC Sports, Read More.


USD president, Mary E Lyons, has announced the promotion of Ky Synder from Associate Vice President for Athletics and Facilities Management to Vice President for Athletics and Facilities Management. Ky Snyder was named Executive Director of Athletics at the University of San Diego on December 10th, 2003. Snyder returned to USD where he was Director of Athletic Development from 1990 to 1996. Snyder was the president of the San Diego Super Bowl XXXVII Host Committee before his most recent stint at USD. He still serves as President of the San Diego Super Bowl Task Force.


Late last night, Dennis Dodd of CBS sports reported that Houston athletic director Mack Rhoades will become the next athletic director at Mizzou. College AD completed a University of Houston profile last week, outlining Mack Rhoades success during his tenure with the Cougars. Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork reportedly took his name out of the running over the weekend. In addition, a source close to Texas A&M senior athletic director Jason Cook said he would not be getting the job.

The University of Tennessee athletics department pressured disciplinary officials at the university to impose lighter punishments on athletes, according to a former vice chancellor. In documents obtained by The Tennesseean, former vice chancellor Tim Rogers alleges that members of the athletic department — including athletic director Dave Hart — put the school in peril by pushing for lighter punishments. A pair of sexual assault cases raised against members of the football and men’s basketball teams are cited by The Tennesseean as examples of lesser punishments dealt to student-athletes. -Adam Stites, SB Nation-

Interviews for the position of athletic director continue. UW-Milwaukee Senior Associate Athletics Director Charles Gross was the second candidate to present his case yesterday for the position, emphasizing his previous experience as a coach and being able to relate to current coaches on staff. He spent an hour answering questions during the open forum portion of the process. Gross was a familiar face in La Crosse serving as the U-W-L head men’s basketball coach from 1992-to-2000.

The University of Jamestown announces today that Athletic Director Lawrie Paulson has resigned effective at the end of the current academic year. Paulson has been employed with the University (formerly Jamestown College) since September of 1985 when he was hired as the women’s basketball coach. Villa Maria College has announced the appointment of Don Silveri as director of athletics for the college’s recently announced sports program. Silveri will bring his 38 years of experience as an administrator and coach to re-build the program, while also serving as head coach of the men’s basketball team, where his own coaching career began nearly 40 years ago. Since it was his first coaching job, Silveri said he has a soft spot in his heart for Villa, and that is one of the reasons for his return.


Dr. Allen G. Snook Jr. has been announced the Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation in Feb. of 15 at Cedar crest College. Dr. Snook is a native of Easton, PA and has been serving as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Director of Sports Medicine and the Director of the Falcon Club at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC.

During the next three years, the administrative charge to the athletic department will be reduced by $2 million, giving Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke funds to pay for the upcoming full cost of attendance scholarships and offset ticket income with the reduction of student prices. The athletic department will now pay $1.5 million to the university for internal services compared to nearly $3.5 million during the last fiscal year. Burke said the remaining $500,000 will used for other areas in the athletic department. Mike Carmin – Read More

Sources tell College AD, Andrew Johnson of Delaware County Community College will be taking the Lehigh Carbon Athletic Director job.


Colorado State interim athletic director John Morris has been hired as the new director of athletics at Tufts University, a Division III school just outside of Boston. CSU confirmed Thursday in a news release that Morris will continue to serve as the interim AD “at least into the spring to assist with the transition to a new director of athletics.”

New Athletic Director, Jim Bartko laid out his vision for empowering excellence at Fresno State earlier today detailing a five-point plan that will be directed to “Achieve Highest Standards, Strengthen the Pack, Build Our Home Field Advantage, Expand Competitive Opportunity, and Swell the Red Wave”. The Bulldogs currently rank 8th in the MWC in revenue which generated $33,734,773.
