- October 17th, 2014— The Athletics Director position is now open at the College of Saint Benedict. The position will be open until it is filled. Apply here.
(D1) Appalachian State University
- October 16th, 2014— The process of finding a new athletics director to replace Charlie Cobb, who left in August for a similar role at Georgia State, is still in the early stages. Alan Hauser, faculty athletics representative and committee chair for 19-members, said “We have interviewed some search firms, but we have not yet put one of those search firms under contract”. Hauser said that there is no set timeframe for hiring a new AD. Rick Beasley is serving as interim AD. Beasley, a potential candidate, has been at Appalachian since 2006 and was deputy athletics director before being named to the interim position. Hauser said the search committee will most likely submit names of two or three finalists to Chancellor Sheri Everts, who will then choose the new AD. -Tommy Bowman/Winston-Salem Journal-

- October 15th, 2014— Grand Canyon University has named Mike Vaught its new Athletics Director. He has spent the past six years as Deputy Athletics Director at Southern Methodist University. He replaces Keith Baker, who is now in a different role in the athletics department.

(JC) El Camino College – Compton Center
- October 14th, 2014— After six years as Porterville College Athletics Director, Eric Mendoza is stepping down to accept a similar position in Los Angeles. Mendoza’s final day at PC was Friday. He begins a new post as Director of Student Development and Athletics at El Camino College Compton Center today. PC President Dr. Rosa Flores-Carlson said the college will soon announce plans for an interim director and a full-time replacement. In the meantime, Vice President Val Garcia will oversee PC athletic programs. The position at El Camino has been open since May. -The Recorder-
(D1) Abilene Christian University
- October 13th, 2014— Sources report that Cory Driskill will take over as interim Athletics Director. Driskill is currently the university’s Associate Director of Athletics of Operations. The search for a permanent replacement still continues. Former AD Jared Mosley, who announced his resignation Aug. 22, has been heavily involved in the process. Mosley promised he would stay on with ACU until October to help search for a replacement.
(USCAA) Penn State Greater Allegheny
- October 13th, 2014— PSUGA Athletics today saw the arrival of Korie Morton-Rozier as the new Athletics Director. Morton-Rozier, who succeeds interim AD Tracy Gibbs, coached the girls basketball team at Woodland Hills High School for the past 11 seasons, leading the Wolverines to seven WPIAL Class AAAA playoff appearances. She also is the school’s all-time leading scorer. Gibbs stepped in temporarily on Aug. 15, when former AD Jim Chester resigned to become baseball coach at Lock Haven. -Dave Mackall, Trib Live-

- October 10th, 2014— After an extensive search, ECC has hired Nathan Cole as the new athletics director. A seasoned coach and higher-education professional, Cole brings more than 19 years of experience to the table. Cole has spent the past six years of his career as a director of admissions with his most recent experience having been at Miami Jacobs Career College in Dayton where he was responsible for all recruiting and admissions functions. Cole replaces Chip Hare, who resigned in July of 2013. The position has been open since May. -Sidney Daily News-

- October 10th, 2014— Fresno State has named a search committee of 15, chaired by Provost Lynnette Zelezny to interview candidates and help President Joseph Castro select a new athletic director. It also includes interim co-ADs Cynthia Mason and Steve Robertello; three community representatives, three faculty members, men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry, swimming/diving coach Jeanne Fleck; athletics communications staff member Stephen Trembley; student Zach Contreras; and non-voting members Mike Dunn and Michelle Nelson. Previous AD Thomas Boeh was reassigned Aug. 12 to a new position as Castro’s special assistant following an eight-year tenure. -The Fresno Bee-

- October 9th, 2014— This week has reached the 100 day mark since Sandy Barbour stepped down as Athletics Director at Cal. So far, the school has not progressed past the process of getting organized.The search may get serious in January or February, with a decision to then be around February or March. It is safe to say that the Bears can seek out an AD with a strong all-around skill set. -Jon Wilner, San Jose Mercury News-
(JC) Barstow Community College
- October 8th, 2014— Barstow names Reggie Ellis its new Athletics Director. The position has been open since June. Prior to joining the Barstow staff Reggie Ellis was the Interim Athletic Director/Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at El Camino College. Prior to his position at El Camino Reggie Ellis was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Claremont McKenna College. Reggie Ellis also served as an assistant basketball coach at Saddleback College, Long Beach City, and Ventura College. During his six seasons at Ventura he helped lead the Pirates to a .836 winning percentage, the 2002 state championship, two state Final Fours, and six WSC North Division championships.

- October 8th, 2014— Sources say that Pat Atwell is a finalist for the Athletics Director position. Atwell was previously the Athletics Director at Drury University, a job he held since June 7th, 2007. He resigned in July.

- October 8th, 2014— Valerie Cleary, associate athletics director, has been named the interim athletic director (AD) at PSU following the resignation of Torre Chisholm. Cleary will take on the duties of the AD on Oct. 13, and will serve until the University hires a permanent replacement for Chisholm. Cleary came to PSU in 2013 after spending three years as associate director of admissions and event coordinator at Pacific University. AD Michael “Torre” Chisholm will be leaving PSU to pursue other career opportunities.

- October 8th, 2014— Ball State today announced the selection of a 12-member search committee charged with finding the university’s next athletic director. The search committee will be chaired by Charlene Alexander, faculty athletics representative. In addition to naming the committee, President Paul Ferguson announced the appointment of Brian Hardin as interim athletic director. Hardin has served Ball State as a deputy athletic director since February 2013,

- October 8th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that the St. Louis Community College District will have interviews for the AD position this week. The action starts this evening with coaches and student-athletes meeting the AD finalists, followed by interviews tomorrow. We will update you as we hear more.

- October 8th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that MCC completed their AD interviews yesterday. The plan was for the AD search committee to make their decision yesterday, and for an offer to go out by the end of the week from the Human Resources Office. We will update you as we hear more.

(D3) Beloit College
- October 8th, 2014— Tim Schmiechen will immediately assume the role of athletic director following the sudden resignation of Peggy Carl on Monday. Carl, Beloit’s AD since 2008, resigned the post for personal reasons. Schmiechen has been a coach at Beloit College since 1990. He has the most overall and conference victories of any men’s soccer coach in Midwest Conference history. He has also served as Associate Athletic Director for the past eight years. Schmiechen is expected to continue as head men’s soccer coach for the foreseeable future. Fourteen of his 23 teams have qualified for the MWC Tournament and, in 2006, the Bucs won their first MWC Championship in 32 years. -BDN Staff-
(JC) Kishwaukee College
- October 7th, 2014— Craig Jackson is the new Athletics Director at Kishwaukee College, listed on the Athletics Department page. Prior to this, he served as both the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and the Athletics Director at Montreat College. Jackson replaces Karen Wiley, who left for the head women’s coaching job at McHenry County College after coaching for 14 seasons. The position had been open since April 30th. An announcement and bio have yet to be made.
(NAIA) University of Michigan-Dearborn
- October 6th, 2014— After a careful and detailed search, the University of Michigan-Dearborn has named Matt Beaudry as the new Athletics Director. The news is now confirmed, a week after sources told College AD about the news. Since June 13, 2013, Michigan-Dearborn has been led by Interim Director Dr. Ann Lampkin-Williams, who will continue her role as the Senior Advisor to the Chancellor for Inclusion and Special Projects after Beaudry has settled in as AD. Beaudry will begin on October 13th. Matt Beaudry most recently served in administration at the Big Ten Conference with oversight and management of several Olympic sports.
(D1) U.S. Air Force Academy
- October 6th, 2014— Now that the application window for the Air Force Academy’s next athletic director has closed, Academy officials say the next step in the hiring process involves a five-member screening panel scheduled to meet this month. The Academy received 50 applications for its athletic director position and Carroll said a number of highly qualified candidates have applied. She expects the final number of those meeting minimum qualifications to be about 40. Dr. Hans Mueh, the current athletic director, is scheduled to retire in 2015.

(D3) College of Saint Benedict
- October 2nd, 2014— Carol Howe-Veenstra, who came to CSB in 1985 and served as the head volleyball coach for 15 years and the school’s athletic director for the past 28 years, is retiring June 19, 2015, she announced today. Leaving won’t be easy for Howe-Veenstra, who is rooted firmly in the sports community in both St. Cloud and Minnesota. Howe-Veenstra’s successor is slated to start July 1, 2015.
(D3) Springfield College
- October 2nd, 2014— Athletics Director Dr. Cathie Schweitzer has announced that this will be her final academic year and she will step down from her position, effective June 30, 2015. Under her direction, Springfield College Athletics is perennially one of the top programs in the country according to the Learfield Sports Director’s Cup. She became the school’s first female AD on July 17, 2000. Prior to her current position, she had served as associate athletic director under Ed Bilik from 1996 to 1999, and was named acting AD when he retired.
(NAIA) Montana Tech of the University of Montana
- October 2nd, 2014— Montana Tech announced today that head football coach Chuck Morrell will step into the school’s vacant Athletic Director position. Morrell will continue as head coach of the football program. He replaces Dave Lau, who resigned for family reasons after a three-month stint this summer. Morrell has served as head football coach since December 2010. He takes over for Nick Bowsher, who became interim AD on September 10th – a couple of days after AD David Lau resigned. -Gordon Voit, MTN Sports-
(D2) Bowie State University
- October 1st, 2014— Sources tell College AD that the Athletics Director search committee has narrowed down the candidates to five. The position has been open since June 4th. President Dr. Mickey Burnim announced the appointment of Ms. Donna Polk as Interim AD on June 23rd; she assumed the role effective July 12th and replaced Anton Goff, who left the AD role after four years for the same position at the University of Hartford. (D1) CSU Bakersfield
- September 30th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that, after a national search, CSU Bakersfield has decided to keep Interim AD Kenneth “Ziggy” Siegfried in that position until at least July 2015. Two previous finalists for this job were Mr. David Harris – Senior Associate AD at Iowa State, and Bill Lansden -Associate AD at the University of Memphis. The position had opened up in July after Siegfried became Interim AD. He replaced Jeff Konya, who left for the AD position at Oakland University.
(D1) University of Michigan
- September 29th, 2014— Michigan has supposedly gauged the interest of UConn director of athletics Warde Manuel and Boston College athletic director Brad Bates about their interest in the same position at Michigan. Current Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon has been under heavy scrutiny for an extended period of time for decisions that have alienated much of the Wolverines fan base. -Pete Roussel, Coaching Search-
(NAIA) University of Michigan-Dearborn
- September 29th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that Michigan-Dearborn has named Matt Beaudry the new Athletics Director. Beaudry has worked at the Big Ten Conference since August 2012, serving as Assistant Director of Championships. Prior to that, he spent two years at Tulane University as the Assistant Director of Development. The AD search has been ongoing the last few months. Beaudry will replace interim AD Dr. Ann Lampkin-Williams, who took over for Steve Rotta who stepped down after nine years into the job.
