- November 7th, 2014— The UTRGV announced yesterday that Chris King, who has been serving as the Director of Athletics at the University of Texas-Pan American since 2009, will continue in that role with UTRGV. Now in his sixth year as the Director of Athletics at UTPA, King has led UTPA Athletics through an unprecedented period of growth, while laying a solid foundation for continued improvement. -Your Valley Voice-

- November 4th, 2014— After serving almost three decades as the director of athletics and chair of physical education, Leslie Poolman has announced that he will be retiring from his position at Dickinson this January. During his time at Dickinson, Poolman created and improved many athletic facilities. But the highlight of his career is arguably the new Kline Fitness Center, which Poolman considers one of his greatest accomplishments as athletic director. -Katie Henwood, The Dickinsonian-

- November 4th, 2014— In an interview with The Michigan Daily Monday afternoon, University President Mark Schlissel made one thing clear: That search hasn’t begun quite yet. “I would imagine that we’ll begin the process of organizing a search in the coming weeks,” Schlissel said. “I can tell you with certainty I haven’t talked to anybody at all — no matter what you read in the media — about whether they’re interested in a permanent position here.” -Alejandro Zúñiga, Managing Sports Editor-

- November 3rd, 2014— LSUA Athletic Director and Head Softball Coach Charlie Zeilman stepped down from LSUA this morning in order to pursue other professional opportunities. Head Baseball Coach Brent Porche will take over as Interim Athletic Director. Michael Poropat is returning to his previous position as Head Soccer Coach effective immediately. -KALB-

- November 3rd, 2014— Virginia Military Institute Athletics Director Dr. Dave Diles issued the following statement regarding the Air Force Academy AD search: “While I have the deepest respect for the United States Air Force Academy, and I am honored to have received an invitation to discuss their Athletics Director position, earlier this week I informed them that I would not be accepting the offer of an interview. I have had close professional connections to several members of the Air Force staff, and it’s understandable that my name would surface. However, I am looking forward to continuing our work at VMI and advancing the vision for our department. We have made substantial progress and we will continue our collective efforts.”

- November 3rd, 2014— According to sources close to the Central Michigan University athletics department, CMU AD Dave Heeke was contacted by Michigan earlier this week to gauge his interest in the open AD position, which Heeke is interested in. Heeke was contacted prior to Michigan’s press conference on Friday announcing that Brandon had delivered his resignation. Heeke has been with CMU as AD since December of 2005. - November 3rd, 2014— Michigan has targeted Northwestern athletic director Jim Phillips as a candidate to succeed Dave Brandon, according to a source. This is an indication that Michigan will seriously consider candidates without university ties. Phillips has served two years as the AD Chair of the Big Ten while also working as a member of the Rose Bowl Management Committee. Northwestern has had more than 200 Academic All-Americans in each of the past four years. – Joe Schad, ESPN-

- November 3rd, 2014— With his alma mater searching for a new athletic director, Warde Manuel is near the top of every list speculating on just who will replace the departed Dave Brandon at Michigan. Michigan officials had not contacted Manuel. “I’m in a great job,” Manuel said. “Obviously, my alma mater means a lot to me, but I love it here. So what I want as an alum is in the best interest of Michigan and obviously for the football program to improve — like all my former teammates and friends.” -Paul Doyle and Desmond Conner, Hartford Courant-

- November 1st, 2014— Ellen McEwen was appointed Director of Athletics in August. Ellen brings more than 30 years of collegiate athletics administration, teaching and coaching experience to her position at Elms and has completed stints at all three NCAA division levels as well as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Ellen most recently spent the last year as the Director of Athletics at Huston-Tillotson University, where she managed the day-to-day operations of the Rams’ athletics department. She replaces Peter Krasny, who spent two years on the job.

- October 31st, 2014— Former Steelcase CEO Jim Hackett will serve as interim athletic director after Dave Brandon’s resignation from the post today, U-M president Mark Schlissel announced. Schlissel named Hackett as the university’s interim AD during a press conference held Friday at Fleming Hall announcing Brandon’s departure after five years leading the Wolverine athletic department. Hackett, who retired in February 2014, was credited with steering the company through a major reorganization that shed half the company’s Grand Rapids workforce. According to Schlissel, Hackett will assist the department in finding a new full-time athletic director.

- October 31st, 2014— Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon is resigning and will not return next season, a source told ESPN’s Brett McMurphy. The university will hold a news conference this afternoon. Brandon has been at the center of controversy all season, including the football team’s mishandling of quarterback Shane Morris’ head injury and issues with students’ ticket prices.

- October 30th, 2014— According to James Grant of Inside UCR, Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox announced today that veteran athletics administrator Janet Lucas will lead the UC Riverside Division I Athletics program on an interim basis. Lucas, who has been working as the executive associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at UC Riverside since 2006, has agreed to take over following the resignation of Jim Wooldridge, which takes effect today. This story comes out the day after our story on the several departures happening within UCR athletics.

- October 30th, 2014— Two more names are out of the race, according to abqjournal.com. Yesterday, the list dwindled to 11 from the previous 48 names. Now, the number of names is at nine. The two who have dropped out are John Cordova and Marlin Musch. Want to know who these two are? Here is the previous list of 11. Committee chairman Larry Lujan said interviews are being scheduled for over the next 10 days. The intent is to recommend “three to five” choices, Lujan said, for NMSU President Garrey Carruthers, who will make the hire.

- October 29th, 2014— Kristen Migliano has decided to step down after 13 years Athletics Director to pursue her passion for teaching. She will remain in her current post through the 2014–15 academic year, and as of fall 2015, will become associate professor of management in Lynn’s College of Business and Management. Migliano became AD in 2006, and under her leadership, the Fighting Knights have earned five national championship titles in baseball, women’s golf, men’s soccer and men’s tennis. The university currently is conducting a nationwide search to replace Migliano. Qualified candidates may apply here.

- October 29th, 2014— Jack McDonald will retire in June after 20 years as athletics director. He made the announcement at an athletic department staff meeting this morning. Hired in the fall of 1995 to oversee Quinnipiac’s transition from Division II, on his watch, the school built a dual-sport facility for basketball and hockey, upgraded conferences in all sports, came within one win of a hockey national championship and enticed the women’s Frozen Four to come to Hamden. -Chip Malafronte-

- October 28th, 2014— Suffolk University has announced the appointment of Cary McConnell as Director of Athletics. McConnell has served as interim AD since August of 2013 following the retirement of James Nelson earlier that year. McConnell becomes Suffolk’s third athletics director in the program’s sixty eight year history. McConnell joined the University in 1996 as associate director of athletics and head baseball coach. He had been head baseball coach position at the University of Rochester.
(NAIA) Culver-Stockton College
- October 28th, 2014— Pat Atwell, former director of athletics at Drury University (Mo.), has been named the new athletics director at Culver-Stockton College, President Kelly M. Thompson announced today. Atwell has nearly 30 years of successful experience in intercollegiate athletics as an athlete, coach or administrator. He has been with Drury University for the past seven years, and served in the same capacity at Quincy University (Ill.) for six years prior to his appointment at Drury. -Quincy Journal-

- October 24th, 2014— Dr. Angela Totty has been chosen to serve as dean of student services and athletic director at MSU-WP. Totty, who served the past two years as vice president of student success at Three Rivers College, will replace Dr. Herb Lunday, who announced his retirement in June 2014 after a nearly 30-year career with the Missouri State University System and a 21-year tenure with Missouri State-West Plains. Totty’s first day on the job will be November 3. -Ozark Area Network-

(NAIA) University of Great Falls
- October 22nd, 2014— According to Thomas Wylie, Sports Director at KRTV in Great Falls, Gary Ehnes is resigning as athletics director at UGF. Ehnes is in his fourth year as AD. Under his guidance, the athletic department has experienced tremendous growth and success. It has added men’s and women’s rodeo, and men’s lacrosse. Ehnes oversees a total of 17 men’s and women’s athletic programs. Argo athletic teams have had much success, both athletically and academically. In the 2013-14 academic year, 14 different Argonaut athletic teams earned NAIA “Scholar-Team” recognition.

- October 22nd, 2014— Warren “Moose” Koegel announced today he will retire Dec. 31 as Jacksonville State’s athletics director. Koegel was hired June 1, 2011, and during his time at JSU, the athletics program has won 11 Ohio Valley Conference championships. In addition, he oversaw facilities upgrades. The university’s President, Dr. William Meehan, said the university will announce the plans to seek a replacement in the coming days. -Mark Edwards, The Anniston Star-

- October 22nd, 2014— The school confirmed the resignation of athletic director Pam Charpentier on Monday after serving in the post since 2001. Charpentier, who resigned citing personal reasons and moving onto opportunities on the east coast, had been at SPSCC since 1991 serving multiple roles inside and outside athletics. - October 22nd, 2014— The search for Cal’s next athletic director will start this month, according to a Tuesday announcement from the University. Cal has formed a search committee tasked with identifying up to three potential candidates for Chancellor Nicholas Dirks to consider. The committee’s goal is to finalize its candidates by the middle this spring. Interim Athletic Director Mike Williams is not on the search committee. Chancellor Dirks will assemble a group to work within the committee to lay out the requirements and expectations for the University’s next Athletic Director. -Mike Vernon, SF Gate-

- October 21st, 2014— Tim Shea, who has spent the last 33 years as an academic advisor, coach and adminstrator at Salem State University, will be retiring in June 2015. Shea has been head of Salem State’s athletic department for the past 13 years. Under Shea’s leadership, Salem State’s outdoor athletic facilities have received significant updates. More recently, he expanded the department of athletics and fitness and recreation with the addition of the new Gassett Fitness Center. (NAIA) St. Gregory’s University
- October 21st, 2014— SGU announced yesterday that it has promoted John Martin to serve as its next athletic director. Martin will continue to lead the Cavalier men’s basketball program, a position he has held for six seasons. He had been serving as interim athletic director since September 1. Martin has been a coach for 18 years – 12 of them as a head coach. Prior to St. Gregory’s, Martin was the head coach for three years at Moore High School. He was also the head coach at John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City for two seasons, guiding the Bears to the Class 5A state title in 2003.
(D3) Alfred State University
- October 20th, 2014— Dr. Kelly Higgins is the new athletic director, announced in June. Higgins brings more than 20 years of successful management and leadership of NCAA DI, DII, and DIII intercollegiate athletic programs to the Pioneers. Higgins joins the Alfred State athletic staff as the college prepares for year two of the NCAA Division III provisional process. He replaces Dr. Daryl Arroyo who left the college in September to take a similar position at San Joaquin Delta College. Jennifer Enke became Interim Athletic Director back in January.

- October 20th, 2014— There are 48 applicants vying to replace athletics director McKinley Boston, who is set to step down as AD after 10 years at his post on Dec. 31. leaving the 15-person search committee to whittle the group down to three or four finalists to submit to President Garrey Carruthers.
