- May 15th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that Simon Gray will be the new Athletics Director. Gray comes from Eastern Kentucky University, where he has been the acting Director of Athletics since January 2, 2013. His duties have included overseeing both the internal operations and external relations of the athletics department. Prior positions at EKU include being the Associate and then Senior Associate Athletics Director for eight years. He will be introduced at a press conference tomorrow at 11am EST. Consider this the first official announcement.

- May 15th, 2014— Sources report that Athletic Director Terry Wanless will be stepping down on June 30. Dr. Terry Wanless’ 11-year tenure as Sacramento State’s Director of Athletics has seen unparalleled growth in the school’s 22-year Division I history. The longest tenured athletics director in school history, Wanless has seen Sacramento State rack up 54 conference championships. Academically, Sacramento State athletics recently posted its highest graduation rates in the Div. I era.

- May 15th, 2014— Mike Snyder has been named Illinois College’s Director of Athletics, Illinois College President Barbara A. Farley announced Thursday afternoon. Snyder will begin work at the College on July 7. Snyder comes to Illinois College from Oberlin College, a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference, located in Oberlin, Ohio. Snyder most recently served at Oberlin as Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations.

- May 14th, 2014—Charles Guthrie, director of athletics at Clark College of Vancouver, Wash., has been selected to lead the Department of Athletics effective July 1, San Francisco State University announced today. The new appointment comes at a critical time, with SF State athletics a renewed priority for the school administration. Under Guthrie’s leadership, 10 of 11 sports programs at Clark College made post-season appearances this past year. Guthrie also oversaw fundraising, branding and Title IX issues.

- May 14th, 2014—Tim Demant, a professional with more than 15 years of experience leading small-college athletics departments, has been selected as the new director of athletics. Demant comes from Goshen College, where he has served as director of athletics for the past six years. Prior to his move to Goshen, Demant was the athletics director and head men’s volleyball coach at Columbia Bible College.

- May 12th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that the AD search still continues. The position has been open since March 25th, after athletic director Grace Calhoun left for Penn. It appears that the school is taking its time in finding a suitable candidate. The University used Parker Executive Search to hire Calhoun in 2011. However, no search firm will be used to hire the next athletics director. No timeline has been set yet for obtaining the new hire. We will keep you updated as we hear more.

- May 8th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Millsaps has narrowed down its field of candidates for its athletic director search. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
(JC) New Mexico Military Institute
- May 6th, 2014—New Mexico Military Institute is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Director to be responsible for advancing comprehensive physical education and competitive athletic opportunities for all students. (D1) Eastern Illinois University
- May 6th, 2014— Athletics Director Barbara Burke announced her resignation on March 27th to accept the Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer position at Tulane University; she began her new position in late April. The position opened up May 1, and the appointment for the new candidate will take place on August 1. The job description and application can be found here.


(D3) University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire
- May 6th, 2014—Four finalists have been interviewed for the AD position. These finalists are Bemidji State AD Rick Goeb, UW-Milwaukee associate AD Charles Gross, Chicago State AD Dan Schumacher, and UW-Eau Claire assistant AD and assistant softball coach Robin Baker. Whoever is selected will replace outgoing AD Scott Kilgallon, who will leave UW-Eau Claire on June 30 for Webster University in St. Louis. – Joe Ziemer
(JC) Frederick Community College
- May 5th, 2014—FCC has been progressing in the Athletic Director search for the last couple of weeks. After a couple of rounds of interviews, it is now expected that the new AD will be selected by the end of the week. The selected candidate will be succeeding Tom Jandovitz, who stepped down last July after 24 years in the position and resumed a full-time teaching position.
(JC) Salt Lake Community College
- May 5th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that Salt Lake City Community College will be narrowing the AD search down to two candidates within the next week or so. These candidates will be brought in for an interview with the President and Vice President. The AD position has been open since March 17, after Norma Carr announced her retirement after 25 years into the job.
(D2) Bowie State University
- May 5th, 2014—Bowie State University athletic director Anton Goff announced he is leaving to accept the same position with the University of Hartford and will begin his new post in July. Goff had been the athletic director at Bowie State since 2010. Information regarding the search for a replacement has yet to be announced.


(D2) Georgia Southwestern State University
- May 5th, 2014—Men’s head basketball coach Mike Leeder will serve as interim athletic director and head coach for the upcoming academic year. The national search to replace Jaclyn Donovan who resigned in December was closed and will reopen in a year. Leeder will take over for current interim AD Randolph Barksdale on June 1. – The Americus Times-Recorder
(NAIA) Montana Tech of the University of Montana
- May 4th, 2014—David Lau is the new athletic director at Montana Tech, reports Gordon Voit. Lau is an assistant athletic director at Missouri Western, where he has been in charge of the school’s development wing since 2003. Before that, he was a baseball coach. Lau was the second of three finalists to interview publicly for the position, which became vacant in January with the departure of Charles Bradley.

(D1) University of Texas at Austin
- May 1, 2014— Athletic Director Steve Patterson has been appointed to the board of Healthcare Trust of America, Inc., an Arizona-based real estate investment trust that focuses on medical office buildings. Scott Peters, HTA’s chairman and CEO, said the company had been in discussions with Patterson prior to his move to UT but wanted to let him settle into his new job before announcing his position on the board. Patterson is the first new member of the HTA board since 2007, shortly after the company was founded.
