- June 28th, 2014—Former University of Northern Iowa Athletic Director Rick Hartzell has been reported to be one of three finalists chosen to interview soon for the Eastern Illinois athletics director job. Search committee chairman Bob Martin did not confirm any names yesterday morning saying finalists still had to confirm they would interview but expressed optimism in the process. Interviews are tentatively planned fur July 7, 8 and 9 on campus after a committee narrowed the field from seven to three by phone interviews. -Brian Nielsen-
(D2) Columbus State University
- June 27th, 2014— CSU President Dr. Tim Mescon announced this afternoon the hiring of Todd Reeser as its new athletics director. Reeser currently serves as the executive senior associate AD for development and sports services at Georgia St. He replaces Jay Sparks, who left in April after 25 years at CSU — the past six as AD — to become the head women’s basketball coach at Francis Marion University. “Over the course of the selection process, Todd Reeser emerged as the perfect candidate to take Columbus State athletics to the next level,” said Mescon. “His 25 years of extensive leadership and management experience will greatly benefit Cougar intercollegiate athletics.” Reeser is slated to start on August 1st.

- June 27th, 2014— H. Michael Williams, a former Cal wrestler with extensive financial and leadership experience, has been named the school’s interim AD while the university conducts a search to replace Sandy Barbour, a campus source said. Williams is a trustee with the U.C. Berkeley Foundation and serves on several university panels. Williams’ appointment will be formally announced at a news conference today at Memorial Stadium. The source said Williams will not be a candidate for the permanent position. -Jeff Faraudo-

- June 27th, 2014—Senior Women’s Administrator, LlJuna Weir has been named the Interim Athletic Director by President, Dr. Alfred Rankins, Jr. effective on July 1st. Weir has been a part of the Alcorn State family for 16 years ago and has helped change the athletics department in various ways. She is a member of several associations including the National Association of Broadcasters and NACWAA. She replaces Dwayne White, who served as interim since 2012 when AD Patric Simon resigned after two months on the job. The University is accepting applications for a permanent AD online until the position is filled. Apply here.

- June 26th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Cal Athletic Director Sandy Barbour will be stepping down from her position. She has been Athletic Director at the university since 2004. Under her direction, the athletic department has become one of the consistently elite programs in the country, all while maintaining its commitment to a mission that seeks to match its level of excellence with that attained by the entire institution. During Barbour’s nine years overseeing Cal’s 30-sport program that supports nearly 850 student-athletes, Golden Bears have captured 18 team national titles and another 88 individual crowns. Multiple other sources report her resignation as well. We cannot officially confirm at this point.

- June 26th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that the AD search is in its final hours. The previous athletics director, Jay Sparks, announced his departure April 4th for the head women’s basketball coaching position at Francis Marion. Almost three months later, we have been told that candidates were informed of the finalist’s identity, and Columbus State will announce their next athletic director within the next 24 hours.

- June 26th, 2014—President Eric J. Barron today appointed a screening committee to assist him in identifying the next Athletics Director. The national search is being conducted in conjunction with Collegiate Sports Associates, an executive search and consulting firm based in North Carolina. David Gray, senior vice president for finance and business at Penn State, will serve as chair of the screening committee.

- June 26th, 2014—After almost 25 years as McHenry County College Director of Athletics, Wally Reynolds has opted to take early retirement. Reynolds got his start in athletic administration in 1980 at Harper College, where he worked in numerous athletic support roles in addition to coaching the baseball team. “The bottom line is I wasn’t going to leave this year, but I was forced into it by the pending legislation to reduce retirement benefits,” Reynolds said.

- June 26th, 2014—Eugene Marshall Jr. has been named Athletics Director. He will take over for Novelle Dickenson, who recently requested to be allowed to return to Academic Affairs, where he has spent 36 years of his life in academics. Prior to his departure, Dickenson assisted with the AD search. Marshall will begin his duties July 1st. Most recently, Marshall was the interim deputy athletics director at Queens College.

- June 26th, 2014—Sources confirm the appointing of Bharath Parthasarathy as interim Athletic Director. Parthasarathy is currently the associate general counsel for GSU. We will keep you updated as we hear more.

- June 25th, 2014—Orange Coast College has named soccer and softball coach Kevin Smith as the school’s new Athletic Director, according to the Dean of Kinesiology & Athletics, Dr. Michael Sutliff. Smith, who currently runs both of the men’s and women’s soccer programs as well as the Pirate softball team, will relinquish his duties with the softball program when he takes over as the AD, effective July 1.

(D3) University of Wisconsin – Fox Valley
- June 24th, 2014—Sources confirm that Lee Rabas will be the new athletic director. Rabas completed his fifth season as head coach of the UW-Fox Men’s Basketball program. His team finished the 2011-2012 season with a 22-3 record, 11-1 in the WCC-East. Before arriving at UW-Fox he spent 12 years coaching at Xavier High School and Lawrence University, both in Appleton. As the head boys basketball coach at Xavier he led the Hawks to a 103-56 record over seven seasons dating from 1997-2004.

- June 24th, 2014—Sierra College names Lucas Moosmas the new Athletics Director. Moosman is currently serving as the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services at San Diego State University. His responsibilities there are oversight of all athletics student service areas for nearly 550 student-athletes. He begun his career in athletics as a football student-athlete at both the community college (Los Medanos) and Division III levels.

(NAIA) Rocky Mountain College
- June 23rd, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Bruce Parker will be the new AD. Parker was the AD at longtime rival Carroll College for the last 11 years. Parker was constantly at the forefront of NAIA athletics; he spearheaded efforts to add six sports to Carroll’s athletic program over the past six years. He has been honored as the NAIA National Athletic Director of the Year, twice as the NAIA Region I Athletic Director of the Year, and six times as the Frontier AD of the Year. He will be officially introduced tomorrow morning.

- June 23rd, 2014—Post University president Dr. Don Mroz announced this afternoon that Michael Mannetti has been named the institution’s Athletic Director after serving the past year in the interim role. Mannetti will also continue to serve as Post’s sprint football head coach.In two years as the sprint football coach, Mannetti has compiled a 9-5 record, including a program-best five-game win streak to close out the 2012 season. Mannetti has coached 40 student-athletes to All-CSFL honors including eight First Team honorees.

- June 23rd, 2014—University President Dr. Mickey L. Burnim announced this morning the appointment of Ms. Donna Polk as the interim athletics director following the departure of AD Anton Goff. She will assume that role effective July 12. She has served as associate AD and senior woman administrator since 2011, assisting with the department’s day-to-day business operations.

- June 22nd, 2014—The Citadel has set up a search committee and will hire a firm to help find the school’s next athletic director, and hopes to have an AD in place by the end of August. Meanwhile, compliance director Rob Acunto will act as interim athletic director, school officials said this week. -Jeff Hartsell-

- June 20th, 2014—Last week sources told College AD that the search committee has completed its evaluations and three candidates had been forwarded to the Interim President Dr. Betty J. Youngblood for her consideration. Sources now tell College AD the identity for the final three candidates and their final interview schedule! Yesterday Jeff Konya, Athletic Director, Cal State Bakersfield interviewed. Today, Mark Shook, Associate AD / Special Assistant To The Athletics Director at Bowling Green State University will interview, and Steve Watson, Athletic Director at St. Bonaventure University will interview Tuesday.
(NAIA) Central Methodist University
- June 20th, 2014— Brian Spielbauer has been selected as the director for the intercollegiate athletics program at Central Methodist, vice president for institutional growth and student engagement Ken Oliver announced this morning. Spielbauer has worked in athletics administration for more than 12 years and is currently the director of athletics at Presentation College (S.D.) where he guided the school through the transition from NCAA Division III to the NAIA.
(D3) Millsaps College
- June 19th, 2014—Millsaps College has hired Josh Brooks to serve as the new director of athletics. Brooks is joining the Majors from his position as associate athletic director at the University of Georgia, where he has worked since 2008. Brooks is expected to begin his new role on July 7. Tim Wise, who has held joint duties as head coach for men’s basketball and athletic director, will return his focus solely to basketball.

- June 18th, 2014—Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. Paula Knudson has appointed Kim Blum as the university’s interim director of athletics effective July 7. Blum replaces Josh Whitman, who accepted the position of director of athletics at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Whitman’s last day on the UW-L campus will be July 3. Blum will serve as interim director of athletics for the 2014-15 academic year. A national search for a full-time athletic director will begin in early 2015.

- June 18th, 2014—It’s official Mark Massari will step down as athletic director to become Deputy Athletic Director at Oregon state. His Letter to the Gaucho nation can be seen here. College AD was the first to break the story last Friday, 117 hours prior to the official announcement.

- June 18th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Erica Rivers is the new Athletics Director at Roxbury Community College. Rivers was previously the assistant ad. She replaces Keith McDermott, who will stay on staff as the director of the Reggie Lewis track and athletic center.

- June 17th, 2014—Sources continue to tell College AD that athletics director Mark Massari will be stepping down this week for the position of senior associate ad for development at Oregon State. We are told the official announcement is still coming this week.
(JC) Clark State Community College
- June 17th, 2014—Clark State Community College welcomes Ken Laake as the new director of athletics and student life. Laake, the former director of athletics for The Miami Valley School, will lead and coordinate all student related activities on Clark State Campuses. He will being his new position on July 1, 2014.

- June 17th, 2014—Athletic Director David M. Joyner today announced his plans to retire from the University. He has requested that his duties as athletic director end Aug. 1, and has offered to assist with the transition beyond that date. Joyner has been the athletics director since January 2013. University President Eric J. Barron will name a search committee to work with Collegiate Sports Associates, an executive search and consulting firm based in North Carolina, to recruit Penn State’s next athletics director. David Gray, senior vice president for Finance and Business at Penn State, has agreed to chair the search committee.

(NAIA) Cardinal Stritch University
- June 16th, 2014— Nearly two months into the AD search, a final candidate has yet to emerge. Sources tell College AD that Cardinal Stritch has just made some cuts, so candidate list is getting much narrower. Since the position is expected to start on August 1st, a name is expected to be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
- June 16th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that the university is conducting interviews this week for the AD position. Interviews will be conducted in a variety of ways. The selection process will most likely be narrowed down to a few candidates next week. The final candidate will be guaranteed the job for a three year minimum, the athletics department reportedly having the potential to be shut down after that time. Stay tuned as we keep you updated.
- June 16th, 2014—Sources tell College AD, recently retired Vice President of Student Affairs Prakash Mathew will be the Interim Athletic Director for athletics. Mathew, had announced his intention to retire June 30, 2014. Mathew began working at NDSU in 1976.
- June 16th, 2014—After 14 years with the University at Albany athletic department, Dr. Lee McElroy has announced his retirement as the program’s Director of Athletics, effective June 30. During his time with the Great Danes, McElroy also served as Vice President for Athletic Adminstration and is a member of the University Executive Committee. An expedited national search for a new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics will begin as soon as possible.
- June 16th, 2014— NDSU sources have confirmed to Valley News Live that Athletics Director Gene Taylor is stepping down after 13 years to become the deputy director for the intercollegiate athletics program at the University of Iowa. Under Taylor, NDSU has produced 64 CoSIDA Academic All-America® awards, three NCAA Woman of the Year nominees, and 18 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship winners. He also guided NDSU through the transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I. Taylor will remain the athletic director at North Dakota State through the month of July.

- June 13th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that UC Santa Barbara athletic director Mark Massari will be stepping down next week to take a position at Oregon State University. We hear that Massari will be taking the senior associate ad for development position which was vacated by Shawn Heilbron last month when he departed for the ad position at Stony Brook University. We cannot confirm the exact position Massari will fill at this point. Massari has been the athletic director for UC Santa Barbara since August 2008, when Chancellor Henry Yang appointed him. We are told the official announcement from UC Santa Barbara is set for Wednesday, June 18th.
