- July 18th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that Cliff Dochterman will be the new Athletics Director at UC Santa Cruz. Dochterman most recently served as Senior Vice President of the Paramount Group for the past five years. From 2011-2013, midway through his position at the Paramount Group, he was the Director of Corporate Relations and Athletics Development at Cal State San Bernardino. He will replace interim AD Kim Musch, who took over after Linda Spradley resigned after 8 years on the job. We are working on full confirmation.

(D2) University of Bridgeport
- July 17th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that Anthony Vitti will likely be the new interim AD at the University of Bridgeport. Vitti is currently the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance and Business at the university, having held the position since March of 2013. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for and Operations since August 2011. He would be replacing Jay Moran, who announced his resignation this morning after 10 years on the job.

- July 17th, 2014— PHCC names Brian Henderson, current assistant athletic director, the new athletics director. Henderson has served PHCC as activities coordinator, adjunct instructor, and head women’s basketball coach during his two-years at the college. He takes over the position Kathleen Brown held, who resigned earlier in the month. Prior to his tenure at PHCC, Henderson served as head boys basketball coach at George Washington High School in Danville, assistant men’s basketball coach at Virginia State University for four seasons and as assistant boys basketball coach of Petersburg.
(JC) Anne Arundel Community College
- July 17th, 2014— AACC names Duane P. Herr its new Athletics Director. A former scholar-athlete on both AACC’s and Towson’s baseball teams, Herr has served as interim coordinator of Athletics since last August. Herr began his career at AACC as an intern in the Athletics office during his final semester of college. He was hired as a temporary employee after graduating cum laude from Towson University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a minor in business management. He was promoted to athletic assistant in November 2010, a position he held until becoming interim coordinator last August.
(D2) Southern Connecticut State University
- July 17th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that University of Bridgeport athletic director Jay Moran is the front runner for The Athletic Director position at SCSU. Moran, who is also the mayor of Manchester, has been at Bridgeport for 10 years. He was previously AD at Albertus Magnus. The Southern job has been open since Patricia Nicol left after 14 years to accept the AD position at Emerson in March.
(NAIA) Simpson University
- July 17th, 2014— Simpson University Athletic Director Joe Griffin announced this week that he will be moving to Indiana to serve as director of athletics at a college there. Griffin joined Simpson University’s athletic staff in August 2007. During his tenure, Simpson added six sports teams and saw its number of student-athletes increase from 109 to 241. Griffin’s last day will be Aug. 5.

(JC) Southwestern Illinois College
- July 16th, 2014— The Southwestern Illinois College Board of Trustees will vote tonight on a proposal to hire a new athletic director. The person hired will permanently replace longtime AD Jay Harrington who retired earlier this year. At the board’s meeting last month it tabbed women’s basketball coach Mike Juenger to fill in as interim AD. Harrington also served as SWIC’s men’s basketball coach. School leaders said in June they wanted to have a permanent AD in place before a new men’s basketball coach is selected to allow the new AD to be involved in the hiring process. -Belleville News-Democrat –

- July 16th, 2014— Sources tell College AD that LIU Brooklyn will be selecting its interim AD by the end of this month. The selected individual will replace John Suarez, who is stepping down after 17 years in the position. We will keep you updated as we hear more.

- July 16th, 2014— Sources say that John Suarez will be stepping down as LIU Brooklyn Athletics Director. Suarez recently completed his 17th year as director of athletics at LIU Brooklyn, where he has overseen unprecedented growth of the school’s athletic department. During his tenure, Suarez has witnessed a dramatic rise in the Blackbirds’ on-field success with 46 Northeast Conference championships and 36 NEC Coach of the Year awards. Suarez arrived at LIU following a three-year stint as athletics director at Mercer County College in Trenton, N.J., which won two national championships and produced 11 regional titles in that span.

- July 16th, 2014— Multiple sources report that Dan Teliski will fill in as interim athletics director, effective immediately. Dan Teliski, having completed his 14th year as the director of athletics media relations in 2012-13, was promoted to assistant director of athletics for media relations in July of 2013. He replaces Mark Richard, who resigned last month for a smiler post at the University of Montevallo. A national search for a permanent AD is ongoing.
(D2) Daemen College
- July 15th, 2014— President Dr. Gary A. Olson has appointed Bridget Niland as Athletics Director. Niland, a Daemen faculty member since 2006, replaces William Morris who has left to pursue other opportunities. Since joining the Daemen faculty, Niland has served as an Associate Professor of Business Administration while additionally overseeing the Sport Management specialization and business law curriculum. Since 2011, Niland has served as Daemen’s Faculty Athletic Representative, while also playing an integral role in Daemen’s transition to NCAA membership.
(D2) Drury University
- July 15th, 2014— Pat Atwell has resigned from his Athletic Director position to pursue other interests, the university announced today. Atwell has been AD since 2007, after serving in the same capacity at Quincy University. In Atwell’s time at Drury, the Panther squads captured 13 NCAA-II national championships and won a GLVC All-Sports Trophy in 2009-10 while finishing in the Top 30 of the Learfield Sports Director’s Cup all-sports competition in each of his seven years. Manuel announced that Scott Puryear, recently promoted to Associate AD For Marketing and Communications, will serve as the interim AD while Drury begins an immediate and nationwide search to fill the position.

- July 14th, 2014— Jeff Potter has resigned as athletic director at St. Gregory’s University, an SGU official confirmed to The Oklahoman today. Jeff Potter has resigned as athletic director at St. Gregory’s University, an SGU official confirmed to The Oklahoman on Monday. Potter faced scrutiny in June after terminating Matt Aguero, SGU’s former track and cross country coach, seemingly because he ran the Boston Marathon. -Cody Stavenhagen-

- July 14th, 2014— President Dr. George C. Bradley has announced that Athletics Director Tim Duncan will soon depart Paine College to serve as the new AD for Clayton State University. Selina Kohn will serve as the interim athletics director effective July 14, marking the second time in her 15-year career with Paine College that she has held this position. Kohn most recently served as the associate athletics director and senior woman administrator, focusing on the department’s internal operations and progression. The former basketball and volleyball coach has also been instrumental in the increased academic success of Paine student-athletes and the department’s operational growth since taking the role in 2007.

- July 14th, 2014—The news is now official: Tom Michael will be the the new Athletics Director. Michael will be formally introduced as the 10th full-time AD in school history at a press conference on Tuesday, July 22 at 1 p.m. in the Ike Kennard Club Room in Lantz Arena.

- July 13th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Jim Sarra withdrew his application from the Eastern Illinois AD search Friday morning. We are told that Tom Michael was offered the job, with terms of $140,000 per year plus a car stipend. Michael comes from the University of Illinois, where he was promoted to senior associate athletics director at in 2012 after serving as associate athletic director since July 2008. Prior to his promotion, Michael spent six years as assistant athletic director for academic services there. Prior to joining the U of I staff, Michael worked in his family’s business. (NAIA) Brewton-Parker College
- July 10th, 2014— Coach Greg “Boo” Mullins will step up to the plate and take on the role of Athletic Director for Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga. Mullins has served as Head Coach for the Barons Baseball team over the past six years, leading his players toward many victories. Brewton-Parker’s baseball team has been the recipient to numerous awards, including NAIA’s College Coach of the Year given to Mullins in 2010. His influence did not stop there, for just this year, Mullins was named the “2014 SSAC Coach of the Year.”
(D2) Clayton State University
- July 10th, 2014— Clayton State has selected Tim Duncan to become the new Athletics Director. University President Dr. Thomas Hynes announced on Monday that Duncan, the current Athletics Director at Paine College, will oversee the institution’s 12-sport NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics program. While at Paine, Duncan was able to improve the academic profile of its student-athletes who earned a 3.0 grade point average or higher by nearly 40 percent. In addition to the improvement of the academic standards, he also revived the football program following a 50-year absence. The 2012 athletics program finished third in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup standings, the highest finish for Paine since 2004.

(D3) Newbury College
- July 9th, 2014—Newbury College announced on Monday announced Jonathan Harper as the new Athletics Director, effective Monday July 21st, 2014. Harper replaces Jessica Gould, who accepted a similar position at Hudson High School. Harper spent the past year as the Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) where he also taught sports management and communication courses at Post University. Leading up to his appointment at the CACC, Harper served as the Commissioner of the Little East Conference.
(D2) Mercy College
- July 9th, 2014—Florida Tech Associate Vice President for Athletic Fundraising Matt Kilcullen has stepped down to accept the Athletics Director position at Mercy College. He will begin his new role on July 28. Kilcullen joined the FIT Athletics program in Aug. 2011. He has overseen the university’s Sporting Affair and Chopper Dropper fundraisers for athletic scholarships, the Football Founders Club and the athletic department’s partnerships. Between the 2014 Sporting Affair and the Founders Club, he has raised over $1 million. Prior to arriving at FIT, Kilcullen was the Assistant Athletic Director at the University of North Florida, where he was heavily involved in significant fundraising campaigns.

- July 9th, 2014—Late last week, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Trish Hammer announced that Athletics Director David Zinn had stepped down from his position. Zinn had been in the leadership role for the past three years as well as serving as the Chair of the Physical Education Department. Current Golf coach and instructor in the Physical Education Department Bill Mannino will be assuming the role of Acting Athletic Director and Chair of the Physical Education Department. Mannino will assume the leadership positions immediately.

- July 8th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Ziggy Siegfried has been named Interim Athletic Director at Cal State Bakersfield. Siegfried replaces Jeffrey Konya, who left for the AD position at Oakland University. Siegfried has been the Senior Associate AD at the university since March of 2012. Prior to this, he was the Senior Director of Development for the Business/Economics College at the University of Memphis.

(D1) Oakland University
- July 7th, 2014—Jeff Konya will be the new athletic director at Oakland University. Konya is currently the Athletics Director at CSUB. Konya replaces Interim AD Betty Youngblood, who filled in for Tracy Huth over five months ago. Huth had spent nearly 35 years at the university and officially retired on January 31st. Prior to coming to SMU, he worked at Memphis, UTSA, Bucknell, Iowa and the University of South Dakota. He also is a published author.

(NAIA) Wayland Baptist University
- July 2nd, 2014— As the search to find a permanent athletic director continues, Wayland Baptist head football coach Butch Henderson has been named the school’s interim AD, according to WBU Vice President of Enrollment Management Dr. Claude Lusk. Lusk said a permanent director of athletics will be in place at least before the start of the fall semester. Until then, Henderson will serve as AD in an interim capacity while continuing his duties as head football coach. Henderson steps in for Dr. Greg Feris, who after 24 years retired as Wayland’s director of athletics, effective June 30.
(JC) South Georgia Technical College
- July 2nd, 2014— SGTC Lady Jets head basketball coach James Frey has been named Athletic Director, announced South Georgia Technical College President Sparky Reeves. Frey was named head coach of the Lady Jets basketball team in July of 2011. During his two seasons at the helm of the Lady Jets, Frey has compiled a 50 – 16 overall record. Frey replaces former AD Steven Wright, who resigned in May to take a new associate pastor position with Central Baptist Church in Americus.

- July 2nd, 2014—Lynchburg College announced today the appointment of Jon Waters, former senior associate athletic director at Christopher Newport University, as its new athletic director. He will officially start his new position in early August. Waters has served as the senior associate AD at CNU since 2010, and took over as interim athletic director in the summer of 2012 for one year. Waters replaces Dr. Jack Toms, who retired on June 30 after 26 years of serving as the director of athletics and helping the Hornets capture over 100 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championships.

- July 1st, 2014— According to KTVE 10 Sports, Aaron James has been relieved of his duties as Athletic Director at Grambling State University. James was named Interim AD in June of 2011, and was named the permanent AD in August 2013. No announcement have been made yet regarding a search for James’ replacement. We will keep you updated as we hear more.
(D3) University of Texas at Dallas
- July 1st, 2014—Bill Petitt has been named the new Athletics Director, announced today by VP of Student Affairs Dr. Darrelene Rachavong. Petitt has served as the university’s interim AD since February upon the retirement of longtime director Chris Gage. Petitt joined the UTD athletic staff in January 2008 as the university’s Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs. During Petitt’s tenure at UTD, corporate sponsorships have tripled and the university has seen more than $3 million in athletic facility improvements over the past five years. Prior to his arrival at UTD, Petitt served as Assistant AD for Media Relations and Marketing at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2003-07, where he served as director of corporate sponsorships for the athletic department.

- July 1st, 2014—Jason Bartelt has been named today the new Athletics Director. Bartelt has served Marian for more than 13 years, and has served as interim AD, assistant AD for athletic facilities and as head baseball coach. At Marian, Bartelt has overseen the construction of various facilities. Bartelt has coached more than 70 All-Conference players, three All-Region honorees and one Academic All-American student-athlete. Prior to coming to Marian, Bartelt served as the assistant baseball coach and in sports information at Lakeland College. Bartelt replaces Jason Murphy, who announced his resignation February 19th to take over the women’s soccer program at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

- July 1st, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Defiance College has just completed phone interviews for their AD opening. Three to four on-campus interviews will be scheduled for next week. A final candidate can be expected to emerge within the following weeks. We will keep you updated as we hear more.

(NAIA) Goshen College
- June 30th, 2014—Sources tell College AD that Goshen College will fill their AD position with in-house co-AD’s for this year. The AD search will reopen next year.
(D1) Eastern Illinois University
- June 30th, 2014—The EIU AD Search Advisory Committee received more than 45 applications for the AD position, according to committee chair Bob Martin. Telephone interviews were conducted with semi-finalists, and three were chosen to participate in on-campus interviews: Rick Hartzell, Tom Michael, and Jim Sarra. The interviews will take place July 7-9 with final schedules for public interviews to be released soon. Hartzell was the AD at the Northern Iowa from 1999 – 2008. Since 2008, Hartzell has worked in private industry while serving as an NCAA Basketball Official. Michael has been the Senior Associate AD at Illinois since 2012. Sarra has been the Deputy AD at the University of Texas San Antonio since 2009. He has ten years of experience in administration at UTSA as Assistant AD of Compliance in 2005.
