While the first month of 2019 was relatively light on AD turnover, we did have a power five program find its next leader. Overall four institutions experienced AD turnover in January.
NC State
On January 30, NC State seemingly out of nowhere announced the result of perhaps the quietest athletic director search in recent memory. The Wolfpack announced that Army’s Boo Corrigan had been selected to replace outgoing NC State AD, Debbie Yow. Corrigan will begin his new job in May following Yow’s retirement. Army has not yet named an interim to replace Corrigan when he departs West Point in May.
La Salle
The Explorers were the first Division I program to experience AD turnover in January after veteran administrator Bill Bradshaw announced plans to retire in May. Bradshaw has been in his current role since returning to La Salle in 2016, serving as the school’s interim athletic director. In 2017 La Salle removed the interim tag. La Salle will commence a national search shortly to retain its next Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.
Fairleigh Dickinson
Bradford D. Hurlbut was named Fairleigh Dickinson‘s next Director of Athletics on January 30. Hurlbut joins FDU from Sacred Heart University where he had served as Deputy Director of Athletics since 2013. He replaces longtime AD David Langford. Langford retired in June 2018.
