Twelve Division I athletic departments made leadership changes at AD in the month of May. Of the 12 transactions, seven athletic departments welcomed new leaders. Of the remaining five changes, three outgoing AD’s left of their own with the other two being terminated from their positions.
Chicago State
Chris Zorich, former Bears, and Notre Dame defensive tackle has replaced Tracy Dildy as athletic director. Didly had been serving in an interim role. Zorich began work on May 8.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi
Scott Lazenby will be stepping down from his position as athletic director after serving in the post for the last eight years.
Cal State Northridge
California State University, Northridge is separating Brandon Martin from his position as athletic director along with the men’s basketball coach Reggie Theus. Theus filed a battery complaint against Martin after he was told he was being fired. The university has hired former Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson as a temporary holding on the position until they can find their next replacement.
Western Illinois University
Matt Tanney has moved from athletic director at Western Illinois University to Wabash College to work for his alma mater. He was only in his previous position for two years.
Iona College
Matt Glovaski announced as the next director of athletics. He is in his thirteenth year as an administrator in Iona’s Athletics Department.
Charleston Southern University
Jeff Barber is the new athletic director at Charleston Southern University. He was formerly the director of athletics at Liberty.
University of Kansas
Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger fired for not upholding his leadership in his position. Sean Lester will serve as the interim AD.
Ball State University
Mark Sandy is retiring from his position, and Beth Goetz will be taking his place. She has shown great leadership in her past experiences at several universities, most recently serving as the COO at UConn.
USC Upstate
Daniel Feig will be the new athletic director, starting in June. His previous experience included being an executive associate athletic director at Southern Miss. He assisted with day-to-day management and administration.
Abilene Christian University
Lee De Leon stepped down from his post at ACU to join Mike Bobinski at Purdue as the Boilermakers executive senior associate athletic director.
SFA
Ryan Ivey will take over for the retiring Robert Hill who announced his intention to step down in January. Ivey comes to SFA after spending the last several years as the AD at Austin Peay.
Loyola Marymount
Former Oregon Deputy AD Craig Pintens was named Loyola Marymount’s new athletic director on May 31. Pintens replaces the retiring Bill Husak.
