They said it was bound to happen, one day a 16 seed would beat a 1 seed in the NCAA, well thanks to UMBC knocking off Virginia in the 2018 NCAA Tournament it finally has happened. The ultimate underdog taking down the heavy favorite on the sports biggest stage. While UMBC is the latest non-football playing school to make its mark on the hardwood it certainly isn’t the only. The names George Mason and VCU ring a bell because of long NCAA Tournament runs. But what is like to run an athletic department without football?
