In an earlier article titled “Beat the Heat for the Summer,” I wrote about the significance that weather plays on college sporting events. As the summer approaches, it is important that you heed all warnings when it comes to summer conditions. Exercising at the cooler times of the day, on-campus indoor facilities, wearing cool clothes, and listening to your body are great ways to safeguard against extreme conditions. But here are a few more tips to beat the heat and stay healthy.
Stay hydrated
Donor donations fuel all great college athletic programs. Money is the key contributor to uplifting a program. The key contributor to your health is water. If you know you are going to exercise in the heat, it is important that you get a head start by consuming the right amount of water. Typically, 8 glasses are the recommended amount. Also, you need to consume water every 15 minutes during exercise and avoid waiting till you are thirsty to drink. Conclude your workout with a glass or two as well
Eat Water Dense Food
Not every college athletic program can get by with an endless supply of money. Just as not everyone can consume the correct amount of water. Sometimes, you have to get by with what you have and try to make the best of the situation. There are some that do not enjoy water as a beverage. It is important that you consume the right fruits and vegetables. Find water dense food that will aid in your hydration. Watermelon, pineapple, and cucumber are all great ways to eat your water. Mother nature does a fantastic job of producing food that suits our summer needs. Do your best to consume those foods.
Be Ready for It
Live collegiate sports is not always dictated by the host team. The sports network very often has the last say on when the kickoff time will start. In the same sense, life may dictate when you exercise. You will not be able to exercise at the time you want every day. It is important that you are ready to exercise at times that may put you at risk. Make sure you have sunscreen, hats, or other protective items to guard you during the days you have to exercise at risky hours.
Your safety is paramount. It is important to stay hydrated. Find ways to consume water through eating. Be ready for days that you have to exercise in the heat of day by using sunscreen, hats, and other protective clothes. Your health is important but when exercising during the heat, never believe that the end justifies the means. Always exercise when the risk is limited.
