Newberry College President Dr. Maurice Scherrens has named Ralph Patterson the school’s Director of Athletics, removing the interim tag after Patterson’s successful four-month stint leading the Athletic Department this fall. Patterson brings a wide of experience in athletics and higher education administration to his new role at Newberry. A former men’s basketball coach, Patterson made assistant coaching stops at Colorado and Appalachian State before spending seven years leading the Erskine program. He came to Newberry in August from Lander University in Greenwood, where he spent nearly seven years as Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Lander Foundation. – Read More.
