Gene Smith, Ohio State University senior vice president and Wolfe Foundation endowed athletics director, was named 2016 Sports Business Journal Athletics Director of the Year Wednesday at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City. A finalist for the 2008 SBJ AD of the Year award and the 2010 SBJ AD of the Year award winner, Smith has helped guide Ohio State athletics to extraordinary successes once again. Ohio State stood second in the latest update of the 2016 Directors’ Cup standings (April 20) and recently celebrated the achievements of a record 561 scholar-athletes (3.0 Grade-Point Average or better) at a ceremony held on campus. –Read More
