Bowling Green president Mary Ellen Mazey acknowledged her pleasure at hiring an alumnus for the position. But she said that was only part of the reasons she and her search committee, which included Fran Voll (board trustee) and Mike Wilcox (former board trustee) along with members of the university’s senior leadership team, settled on Moosbrugger, who most recently served as deputy athletics director at San Diego State. “I believe BG athletics has been extremely successful in the five years that I’ve been here, so my No. 1 emphasis was on continuing that success,” Mazey said. “I also want the emphasis to be on the student-athlete, whether that’s on the field, off the field or in the classroom.
