UALR offered to raise former basketball coach Chris Beard’s base salary to $400,000 per year, an increase of $170,000 annually, when Beard met with Athletic Director Chasse Conque last Wednesday, one day before Beard was contacted by UNLV.Conque said Beard left the meeting, which came four days after UALR’s 30-5 season came to an end with a loss to Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament, “appreciative” of the package, but without signing an agreement. – Troy Schulte, Arkansas Online.
