Santa Clara University, which hasn’t played in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament since 1996, has hired Herb Sendek, who coached three schools to eight berths in the event. Sendek, 53, will replace Kerry Keating, fired as the Broncos coach March 14 after nine seasons.Sendek has an overall head coaching record of 413-295 in 22 seasons at Miami-Ohio, North Carolina State and Arizona State.
