Julie Hermann survived a series of public missteps over the last three years, but her time as Rutgers athletics director expired likely due to things that happened in private. Hermann is out Sunday after a meeting at the home of Rutgers president Robert Barchi, who hired her and was her biggest public supporter during some rocky times, Gannett New Jersey has learned. Rutgers-New Brunswick Chancellor Dick Edwards, who co-chaired the committee to hire Hermann along with booster Kate Sweeney, was seen arriving at Barchi’s home at 12:10 p.m. Hermann arrived about 15 minutes later. The meeting lasted 11 minutes.
