The University of Calgary Dinos have named Christine Stapleton their director of athletics. Stapleton becomes the first woman in the history of the University of Calgary to be the director of athletics, and the sixth director of athletics in the history of the University of Calgary, following Dennis Kadatz, Robert Corran, Don Wilson, Kevin Boyles and Ron Wuotila.
Stapleton meanwhile has 30 years of experience in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. As a student athlete she won two CIS women’s basketball championships at Laurentian University in 1990 and 1991. Stapleton then went on to be the head coach of the University of Regina Cougars women’s basketball team from 1993 to 2002.
