In the 10 months since taking over, Interim Athletic Director Jim Hackett has made a lasting impression on his boss, U-M President Mark Schlissel. Hackett’s most notable accomplishment so far as the No. 1 man in athletics has been successfully recruiting and reeling in the highly coveted Jim Harbaugh to coach the football team. But despite hitting the proverbial home run with the Harbaugh hire, Schlissel isn’t in any hurry to remove the interim from Hackett’s title, nor is he rushing to gather a search committee to choose another permanent replacement.
