With the first day of the fiscal year on Wednesday came two notable changes within the New Mexico State athletics department. David McCollum has left his post as the NMSU deputy athletics director and Chet Savage is slated to replace him on Monday. McCollum’s salary is believed to be redirected to the position that Savage will fill, but McCollum will still be involved in athletics at NMSU as a liaison between the university and former student athletes. Savage worked under Moccia at the University of Missouri and Southern Illinois, where he has been the deputy athletics director since 2010. Savage was a fundraiser at Southern Illinois and his position at NMSU will likely be similar, primarily focused on the Aggie Athletic Club. – Jason Groves, LCSUN. Read more.
