Depositions of former University of Texas president Bill Powers and former athletic director DeLoss Dodds were taken Monday in the 4-year-old discrimination lawsuit filed by former Texas women’s track coach Bev Kearney. Horns247 reported Nov. 9 depositions of Powers, Dodds and former UT football coach Mack Brown were set to be taken in Kearney’s lawsuit, which has resumed after a series of appeals by UT to dismiss the case were unsuccessful. Kearney’s lawsuit seeks in excess of $1 million and alleges Texas discriminated against Kearney by terminating her while allowing Applewhite to retain his job as running backs coach after it was revealed Applewhite had a sexual encounter with a female graduate student trainer for football in January 2009. – Chip Brown, 247sports.
