Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium is, in some ways, still a new-feeling facility. We still call the place where the University of Louisville used to play its games the “old” Cardinal Stadium. But the new stadium will turn 20 years old next September. When Howard Schnellenberger famously said the program was, “on a collision course with a national championship, the only variable is time,” a lot of people laughed.
