University of New Mexico’s Board of Regents decided it would not accept head football coach Bob Davie’s appeal of the 30-day suspension levied last week by interim President Chaouki Abdallah. The seven-member panel made the decision in executive session. Abdallah announced the suspension last Thursday after UNM released the results of two recent investigations involving Davie and the football program. Davie on Friday said publicly he was appealing. UNM Regents’ policy provides staff the ability to appeal administrative decisions that affect them to the board, which has discretion on whether to hear them. The board has 90 days to render a final decision. Regent President Rob Doughty said “the Board of Regents have decided not to accept Coach Davie’s discretionary appeal under Regents’ policy 1.5.” –  Jessica Dyer, abqjournal.comRead More
