Michigan interim athletic director Jim Hackett will remain the AD for the near future. UM president Mark Schlissel told the Free Press editorial board there’s no search to hire a permanent AD. Hackett’s status has remained undefined since he took over abruptly on Oct. 31, 2014, after athletic director Dave Brandon resigned under pressure. He’s currently making $600,000 per year as the interim.
