Gene Bleymaier is stepping aside after five years as San Jose State’s athletic director, according to sources. Bleymaier will serve as a special advisor to president Mary Papazian and focus on the South Campus development plan for athletic facilities. Deputy Marie Tuite will serve as interim athletic director, a role she has held previously. The news was delivered to department personnel Thursday morning. No timetable was given for the search for a permanent athletic director.
