Arizona State athletics has work to do beyond the major men’s sports to get the department where it needs to be. Vice President for Athletics Ray Anderson gives ASU’s 26 sports an overall rating of 5 on a scale of 10, even given 2016-17 national titles in women’s golf and women’s triathlon (not yet a full NCAA  sport) along with the school’s a fourth consecutive undisputed title in the Territorial Cup Series against Arizona. Aside from on-field performance and academic progress, much of Anderson’s attention has been devoted to upgrading ASU’s facilities. Facilities updates. In Anderson’s office is a rendering of the ASU athletic facilities master plan. It’s not set in stone and Anderson doesn’t want it shown to the public yet, but the highlights already are common knowledge. Completion of the $268-million Sun Devil Stadium renovation with east-side reconstruction after the 2017 season. Constructing a multi-purpose arena for hockey, wrestling and gymnastics on the east side of Wells Fargo Arena. Renovating Wells Fargo Arena. – Jeff Metcalfe, azcentral.comRead More
